Tyre pressure: the single biggest range factor Pneumatic tyres on 8″ and 10″ wheels should be kept at 2.5–3.0 bar. Under-inflated tyres increase rolling resistance dramatically, which directly eats into range and can make the scooter feel sluggish or unstable. Check pressure weekly, and inspect for embedded stones, nails or cuts while you're at it. 2. Battery care: the rules that prevent early failure A scooter's lithium battery is the most expensive component, and a few habits decide whether it lasts 2 years or 5. Charge before it dies. Don't let the battery sit at very low charge. A 48 V pack reads roughly 54 V when full and should not be run down below around 41 V for long. A battery left at low voltage for weeks can enter deep-discharge protection — what technicians call a "sleeping" battery — and may need a long reconditioning charge to wake. If it won't wake: plug in the original charger and leave it for 8+ hours without unplugging. In many cases the battery management system will recover on its own. Store it around half charge (40–60%) if you won't ride for a month or more, in a cool, dry place. Avoid leaving it fully charged in a hot garage for weeks. Use the original charger. Brakes: the safety check you must not skip Scooters with disc brakes need the caliper and pads checked periodically. Squeeze each brake lever and confirm it returns crisply. If the wheel drags or squeaks constantly, the caliper may not be releasing properly, or the disc may be slightly warped — both are cheap fixes if caught early. If a brake lever stays half-engaged after you release it, the cut-off switch can keep sending a "braking" signal and prevent the motor from accelerating — a common cause of "my scooter won't go" complaints. 4. Bolts, folding mechanism and the frame Vibration loosens bolts. Every few weeks, grab the handlebar and push/pull firmly in all directions to feel for play in three places: the folding mechanism, the steering column, and the handlebar clamp. If any of these wobble, tighten the relevant screws with the wrench from the included tool kit. A folding scooter is only as safe as its latches — check them before every ride if you fold it daily. 5. Cleaning and water Wipe the scooter down with a dry cloth after wet rides. Never spray it with a pressure washer — high-pressure water can force its way past seals into the battery compartment or controller. If connectors or charging pins look dirty or oxidised, clean them with a dry cloth; avoid oily lubricants that attract more dust. 6. Overheating: a normal protection, not a fault On very hot days, or after long climbs at high load, the motor, controller or battery can trigger thermal protection and cut power. This is a safety feature. Park in the shade and let the scooter cool for 10–20 minutes before restarting. If it happens constantly on flat ground, contact support — it may indicate a genuine issue. 7. Winter storage (off-season) Charge to about 50% before storing. Store indoors in a dry, frost-free place (freezing temperatures degrade lithium cells). Top up the charge roughly once a month during storage.
