The caliper only brakes properly if it sits square to the rotor. A bent or re-drilled bracket pulls the pads on at an angle, and you get a lever that feels wooden plus a disc that wears on one side. Fitting notes
- Support the scooter so the wheel spins freely, then unbolt the old caliper and bracket.
- Bolt the new bracket on first, then set the caliper loosely so it can self-centre.
- Squeeze the lever to centre the caliper over the rotor and tighten the bolts evenly.
- Set cable tension so the pads clear the disc by roughly 0.3 mm, and check the brake cut-off stops the motor.
- Bed in the pads with 20-30 gentle stops from moderate speed before riding fast.
